My vision

Linn Hartman stands for unique and compelling design in various disciplines of fashion & graphic design, styling and concept. In my work I push my creative boundaries and I continue to develop myself as a designer. My signature as a designer can be described as diverse, eclectic , colorful, innovative with strong graphics and allover prints. I have a highly developed sense of aesthetics and eye for detail and color combinations. These elements characterize my work. Design often means finding the balance between creativity, functionality and commercialism. My aim is to represent all these aspects in my designs. My vision as an all round designer is to design and inspire in the broadest sense of the word. To think out of the box and create unique designs without losing sight of commerciality.

How I work

During my career I have developed myself as an allround (fashion) designer. The broad research I do in trends and new developments in fashion, design and art is significant for how I work. And I often get my information and inspiration from costume and cultural history. My sense for trend forecast allows me to apply new developments in an early stage in my own designs. I push the boundaries and bring innovation within the clients identity and philosophy.

A few of my clients are:

  • Margaret West, a leading high end label in womenswear from Rotterdam
  • Cavalier Cotton, a high end menswear label from Rotterdam
  • Marbin International, innovative product development resource from Alphen aan den Rijn
  • Jes Sourcing, customized product development resource from Singapore

My blog

The purpose of my blog is to inspire and share my passion for fashion, design, art and culture with others. I blog about divergent trends and topics and provide additional information about the history or background. I choose topics that are inspiring, enchanting and speak to my imagination or stimulate my senses.

An ongoing theme in my blog is my photography project ‘Dreamscape’. It includes images of everyday objects from my surroundings which I transform into new colors and unexpected combinations. This is how I create my own world filled with colorful shapes and imagination.

About me

I was born in 1975 in Seoul, South-Korea. My adoptive parents taught me the importance and enrichment of a broad cultural background & environment. This boosted my interest in human, nature and my imaging. Since early childhood I expressed my interest in fashion by customizing clothes and accessories. After gymnasium I graduated as a Bachelor in Fashion Design at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. During my study I was an intern for Dutch fashion designer Alexander van Slobbe. I’ve gained extensive work experience as a fashion designer for various brands such as We, Quick and Garcia Jeanswear. In 2016 I started my own business as a freelance fashion & graphic designer.
I am also a mother of two wonderful sons and they inspire me regularly with their open-mindedness and creativity. In my own work I often use elements from their creations and drawings. In this way I give my designs a personal touch.
