Rachel Lachowicz is is a famous American artist known for her conceptual art. In her work she articulates a feminist position regarding the exclusion of women from art history and the continued inequities that women experience in the art world today. By reconfiguring famous works she explores the relationship of identity and the politics of mark making, predominately through the use of cosmetics.
Especially her large pieces of plexiglas filled with pigment powders are luscious to me. With her composition of different shades of blue pigments in transparent containers she creates a 3-dimensional masterpiece which is personally one of my favorites .
